The Department of History invites applications for a one-year term appointment as Assistant Professor of History (ABD’s will enter at the Instructor level) starting in August 2016. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment and will teach three courses per semester. Candidates for the position should be prepared to teach the pre-modern and modern East Asian survey courses, as well as topical classes at the 100-level and 300-level based on the candidate’s specialties and expertise. Ability to teach national surveys at the 200-level is also desirable. Training in Chinese history is essential and the ability to teach on Japan and/or Korea is also required.
