JOB DESCRIPTION: Primary duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans. Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement. Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications. Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program. Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings. Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports. May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives. Prepares operational and statistical reports. Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups. May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers. Performs related responsibilities as required. This is not an administrative support position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the program and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in related field preferred. Experience studying, working, or living abroad desired. Demonstrated organizational ability, attention to detail, and talent for multi-tasking. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with a variety of constituents. Strong computer skills (Terra Dotta experience a plus). Second language experience preferred.
Additional Job Details There are currently two vacancies for Study Abroad Advisors. While the positions are similar, there are some distinctions between the two. If you have a particular interest in one position, please note this in your cover letter.

Position One:

Advises for several semester study abroad programs and serves as point person for issues pertaining to these programs. Assists with general study abroad advising, pre-departure orientations, classroom presentations, and other marketing/recruiting events within the University. Coordinates International Transient Study. Advises semester and summer students with visa processes, including international students going to a third country. Advises semester and summer students on internal and external scholarships, including the Gilman and the Boren, and coordinates Sojourner Travel Grant and other program-specific scholarships managed by CIPA. Coordinates the Undergraduate Program in Global Research and Development (UPGRADE) application and selection process. Manages the cipa@emory.edu email account. Serves as CIPA’s First Year Experience (FYE) liaison. Maintains and updates brochure pages and budget sheets for advising areas on the CIPA website. Serves as front-line advising staff and covers reception as needed.

Position Two:

Advises for several semester study abroad programs and serves as point person for issues pertaining to these programs. Assists with general study abroad advising, pre-departure orientations, classroom presentations, and other marketing/recruiting events within the University. Organizes semester pre-departure orientation and processes. Plans and arranges study abroad fair and other office events as needed. Coordinates incoming exchange students processes and welcome orientation. Maintains and updates brochure pages and budget sheets for advising areas on the CIPA website. Serves as front-line advising staff and covers reception as needed.
