Assistant to the Director of Asian Studies will assist the faculty Director in coordinating the teaching, research and outreach activities of the Asian Studies Program at UB. Responsibilities will include helping with day to day operations and development of the program (including maintaining all accounts, initiating budgetary and personnel transactions, providing reports as needed, etc.); organizing and coordinating Asian Studies events at UB, including lectures and conferences; promoting the Asian Studies Program at UB and in the community using both print and digital media, including updates to the website; communicating with core constituencies; drafting proposals, reports, and promotional materials; and coordinating the involvement of the Asian Studies Advisory Council, including writing minutes of council meetings, and drafting documents for council consideration.
Applicants should demonstrate superior organizational abilities, interpersonal skills, and facility in oral and written communication, and have experience managing databases, budgets and websites. Earned Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience are required.
A Master’s degree in Asian studies or a related field and relevant experience in academic program management, development, or similar areas are strongly preferred. Experience writing grant proposals is desirable.
